Nordbo Robotics Mimic software platform has developed significantly since it was first introduced developed as a way to help companies automate the polishing process. We have since expanded our application experience to include, sanding, grinding, deburring, painting and powder coating to name but a few.
While much of our early development efforts focused on adapting our technology to the Universal Robots polyscope environment we recognised that in order to continue growing we would need a platform of our own. This was the impetus for our Mimic Core platform where we have the freedom to focus on the user experience for people with little to noknow robotics experience.
Mimic UR
Many of our early integrations of the Mimic solution were designed for the collaborative robotics market and as a result of this a lot of development time went into adapting our technology’s capabilities into the native polyscope environment found on Universal Robots products.
The Mimic UR platform is still a viable way to incorporate this technologyMimic into your application solution. Mimic’s key features of fast programming and capturing complex human movements are readily available via this method. We recommend this adoption of our technology to those clients that already have a firm knowledge base and understanding of working within the UR polyscope environment.
End users with this degree of knowledge will be able to supplement their Universal Robots experience with the added benefit of the fast programming that the Mimic platform can deliver.

Great stories have a personality. Consider telling a great story that provides personality. Writing a story with personality for potential clients will assist with making a relationship connection. This shows up in small quirks like word choices or phrases. Write from your point of view, not from someone else's experience.
Great stories are for everyone even when only written for just one person. If you try to write with a wide, general audience in mind, your story will sound fake and lack emotion. No one will be interested. Write for one person. If it’s genuine for the one, it’s genuine for the rest.
Mimic Core
As a result of our early successes implementing the Mimic platform into cobots we recognised that the use cases for the product were expanding even more varied than we anticipated and the appetite for adapting the technology to other brands was obvious. Rather than trying to create tailored interfaces for each brand of robot our development team created Mimic Core.
Mimic Core was designed specifically for those users that have little to no experience in programming robots or computer coding. The focus of the development team was to create an interface that was easy to learn and straightforward to use. Its app-like interface utilises drag and drop functionality to maximise users existing learned behaviour in adapting to the interface.
Having our own platform in Mimic Core has also allowed us the freedom for continuous adaptation and advancement. Mimic Core is already compatible with several other robotic brands such as Kuka, Fanuc and Nachi and it can be used in both collaborative and industrial applications giving our end users a huge range of potential applications.
Improvements that can only be found in the Mimic Core platform include:
- Path generation
- Dedicated force control
- Simulation
- New tracking technologies
- Dedicated application specific modules for sanding and buffingpolishing
- Continuous improvements in UI and customer journeys
- User levels for Operators and Managers
- Many more ways to fine tune and edit individual recordings and your programs
What is best for you
Both Mimic UR and Mimic Core offer our users the ability to capture human movements and translate them into robotic code which greatly decreases the amount of time it takes to program complex tasks into your robot.
The Mimic UR platform is particularly good for users that already have a solid understanding of the UR Cap environment and have experience in navigating this interface. By integrating the Mimic solution they can achieve the fast programming results that will make it an invaluable tool. If your company is currently utilising the Mimic UR software and are happy with what it delivers then there is no reason to switch necessarily.
With this in mind we do generally recommend to our customers that they choose the Mimic Core solution. Mimic Core is a more robust solution that has had much more focus on how end users actually use our technology. A concerted effort has been made to reduce the barrier that keeps novice operators from learning how to use their robotic automation system.
Additionally the Mimic Core software is still under continuous development with new features being added all the time. This development not only includes new brands of robots but also new application modules which are specifically tailored to the needs of that task. If your company is looking to future proof your robotic integration then the choice is clear, Mimic Core is the package for you.

Regardless of your choice we are confident that incorporating the Mimic platform into your new or existing robotic integration will help you achieve greater returns on your automation investments. We look forward to being part of this journey with you.
